Tijuana poet Magui del Mar presents new book

magui del marIt was standing room only at the Tijuana Cultural Center's small film room for Magui del Mar on Tuesday, who read from her latest work of romantic poetry, "Voces del Corazón." It was standing room in part because of the presence of a large class of students from the CBTIS 146 school in Playas de Tijuana, who were assigned to write about the event.

Magui del Mar is the pseudonym of Margarita Ruiz Ruiz, a retired Tijuana school principal, who thanked the students for attending.

She is a native of Durango state and studied in Guadalajara and Aguascalientes. At least the last 23 years of her educational career took place in Tijuana.

"It's a true honor to be here with our good friend, Magui del Mar, the Tijuana poet, the Aztec lady," said Jesús Torres, who performed master-of-ceremonies duties along with Rosa Inés Oceguera.

Among those attending the poetry reading were avocado farmers from Uruapan in Michoacán state.
