General says "El Chapo" Guzmán is not walking around Baja California with impunity

Gen. Alfonso Duarte Mújica was quoted in Frontera as saying that there is no intelligence that Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán has been passing the time in Baja California. Miliitary frees kidnapped Tijuana businessman, 68, after receiving tip

The military freed a 68-year-old Tijuana sman who had been kidnapped when he was opening his business March 15, Frontera reported. Four people were arrested at a house where the man was being held after receiving a tip. The kidnapping victim's name was not given. The kidnappers had sought a million dollar ransom from the man's wife, the paper said. Fifteen kilos of marijuana and five guns were seized, the paper said. Story, Frontera (PDF).

Former Arellano Félix gunman given 25-year sentence

Killer was former state judicial policeman

Israel Coronado Moreno, aka "El Chore," was given a 25-year prison sentence by a court in Mexicali for killing a man in 2007. Coronado, a former state judicial policeman who worked for the Arellano Félix Cartel, was convicted of killing Martín Cárdenas, who had just gotten out of prison on a minor charge. 4 kidnappers who worked for "El Sillas" sentenced to 28 years

Four kidnappers who worked for "El Sillas" were sentenced to 28 years in prison, Tijuana media reported. All worked for Juan Francisco Sillas Rocha, aka "El Sillas," who was arrested in November.
Those sentenced were:
• Luis Antonio Murillo Martínez, 19, aka "El Rizos"
• Fernando Chacón Mora, 25, "El Oso"
• Héctor Adán Sarabia Chiquete, 21, "El Adán"
• Juan José Hernández Meza, 26, "El Peke" or "Scarface."
