Paper touts "Chapo style" capture of armed carjacker in Mexicali

The Mexicali edition of El Mexicano newspaper reported that an alleged vehicle thief had been caught "Chapo style" after a cellphone in the vehicle gave away his location.

Top drug trafficker Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán was arrested Saturday in part as a result of a satellite phone used by an aide, the media have reported.

In the Mexicali case, a 22-year-old who had had his vehicle robbed by an armed man said he reached in his pocket afterward to call police, but then realized he had left the phone in a cupholder in the vehicle. He flagged down police, who then were able to locate the vehicle through GPS.

The paper said a man in the stolen vehicle was arrested in possession of a .38-caliber gun and four passports.
