78-year-old American living in Tijuana's Zona Norte apparently kills robber, hides body

El Mexicano reported that a 78-year-old American living in Tijuana's Zona Norte apparently killed a robber and then hid his body June 15. It reportedly was the third time Juan Carlos Osuna Valenzuela, 34, had robbed or tried to rob the American, El Mexicano said. The paper said the American, prepared this time around, used a .22-caliber gun to kill Osuna. The American, whose face was apparently slashed with a knife, then crossed into the United States to get medical treatment, where he was hospitalized for two days, El Mexicano reported. The paper said the body was discovered because Osuna's wife and mother knew he had entered the American's home through a hole he made in the roof. They did not immediately go to authorities because Osuna had served time in the United States and then was deported; he also had served time in Mexico. After the women told Mexican authorities Wednesday that they had never seen Osuna come out of the American's home, authorities interviewed the man, who confessed what had happened, and were led to the body.
