Vicente Mayoral, unjustly charged in the Colosio assassination, dies at age 78

Vicente Mayoral, the man who grabbed Mario Aburto Martínez after he shot presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio in 1994 in Tijuana, has died at age 78. Mayoral had the misfortune of being accused of being in on the plot after Aburto claimed his innocence in an attempt to get away and blamed Mayoral, calling him "El Ruco" (the old guy). Mayoral, a former policeman, had been hired to be part of a security team for the event.

His son Rodolfo also was unjustly charged in the case before both were acquitted.
