The National Polytechnic Institute (Instituto Politécnico Nacional, or IPN) is planning to offer a seven-month, six-course, 180-hour English-Spanish translation and interpretation certificate program, El Mexicano newspaper reported Tuesday. Story, El Mexicano (PDF).
Over the weekend, the last of a series of workshops for translators, called La Torre de Babel (the Tower of Babel), concluded at the Tijuana Cultural Center. A new series of workshops led by poet Roberto Castillo Udiarte may take place again next year. Over the weekend, Shabad Zeest Samy and Najah Abdekar spoke about translation from Arabic to English and Spanish, while Martin Camps, Sonia Gutiérrez and Francisco Bustos spoke about translating literature from Spanish to English and vice versa.
