Frontera newspaper started an Ensenada edition Friday.
Frontera, which publishes in a tabloid format, said it is in the No. 1 position in Tijuana with 55% of the market and a daily circulation of 48,000. Other dailies in Tijuana are El Mexicano, which has Ensenada and Mexicali editions, and El Sol de Tijuana. Sol has a sister paper, La Voz de La Frontera, in Mexicali. Frontera began 13 years ago.
Periódicos Healy's flagship paper, El Imparcial, is in Hermosillo, Sonora, and has a daily circulation of 38,000. It turns 75 next week. Full-page ad congratulating El Imparcial (PDF).
Its Mexicali paper, La Crónica, has a circulation of 24,000, and also covers San Luis Río Colorado in adjacent Sonora state. It started in 1990.
Periódicos Healy also publishes Frontera San Diego, a weekly with a free distribution of 30,000, and La I, a downmarket paper.
