Members of the ejido Sierra de Juárez say that loggers are illegally taking out pine trees in the Sierra de Juárez, and that authorities are not doing enough to stop the pilfering.
El Mexicano newspaper reported that on March 14, a federal policeman stopped a truck full of cut trees, and that the driver of the truck fled.
Ejido official Gabriel Dukes Carranza told the paper that he personally stopped one of the loggers, and reported him to authorities, but that the logger has not been detained.
