Driver finds drugs attached to vehicle in Tijuana before planned crossing of border

A driver in the Otay Universidad area of Tijuana who planned to cross the border found drugs attached to a vehicle with magnets on Thursday and reported it to police, El Mexicano newspaper reported. Traffickers have been using what are termed "blind mules" by attaching taped drug packages to vehicles with magnets and then removing the drugs after the blind mules make their next stop across the border. On Tuesday, a similar planting was discovered downtown. Authorities said 17 such plantings were discovered in 2012.
